On Saturday and Sunday I went for a ride with my mate Martin Beyst to see the Oxendon and Kelmarsh tunnels. On the first day we stopped for dinner at Bardney heritage centre which has a very nice cafe. We then continued to Stamford via Sleeford and Bourne. At Stamford we had some fish and chips. We then headed to market habrough. On the way we stumbled accross the massive 82 arch Welland Viaduct which we stopped to look at and tool some pictures. At market harborough we stopped at an aldi to pick up some supplies and then went to a campsite beside the brampton valley way. This was possibley the best site I have ever used, I even got a free cup of tea, a sandwich and a muffin, all for a fiver! After pitching up and having tea we went to check out the tunnels, by this time it was dark and it was quite an expirience riding a railway path in the dark, not something I had done before. Martin was having some problems with his lighting so I lit the way for both of us using my P7 modded Inoled light. It is much easier seeing inside the tunnels when there is no light at the end!
In the morning we headed back via rutland water (hills, some with chevrons!) and then took some minor roads to sleeford (more hills!). At sleeford we stopped at a chippy for some late dinner and then headed hone.

Did a 104 mile ride today, mostly on unclassified roads and part of a rail path near Lincoln
Total distance on computer: 104 miles, Avg speed: 17.5mph, total ascent: 2200ft
There are proposals to extend the existing sustrans path to the west of Lincoln by about 5 miles and for it to cross the river trent using the spectacular 59 arch fledborough viaduct. I went out to see the viaduct and took some pictures of it and also pictures of some other sections of the track bed from the road bridges.

More info on fledborough viaduct here: www.forgottenrelics.co.uk/bridges/gallery/fledborough.html
On the ride I also went to try and see torksey viaduct but it was not visible from the road due to a levee and there were various signs saying private keep out and no trespassing so I did not climb the levee. My OS map shows a public right of way from which I could see the viaduct but it is on the other side of the river and the nearest road bridge is about 5 miles downstream so I decided to leave that for another day.

On my way home from work today, my back wheel started rubbing on the wheelarch. When I got home and inspected the Quest at first I could not see the cause but then I pulled the velcro off the swingarm to reveal a crack in the swingarm.
Looks like my Quest maybe U/S for several days. Hopefully ymte will be able to sort me a replacement out.

Went for a ride to winterton today. Went down a lane which had just had the hedges flailed and bits of howthorn all over the road and for 4 pu*nt*res, not a plesent ride as was very cold and got very cold fixing the flats, I only had one spare tube too so I had to patch the others. Got to the cafe and it had just shut, gah. Total distance; 65 miles, avg speed: about 19mph.
